Octavio Ponzanelli Conti was born in Mexico City in 1918 son to famous marble sculptor from Carrara, Italy, Adolfo Octavio Ponzanelli. Ponzanelli Conti studied at the Academy of Art in Florence. His work in bronze and especially his nude figures gained him noteriety in the world of art as a master sculptor. He has made countless busts and statues that stand all along the main avenues in Mexico City. Agustín Lara, María Grever, Tata Nacho, Gonzalo Curiel, Don Quijote de la Mancha, Rubén Darío, Don Francisco I. Madero, Lázaro Cárdenas, Jose Marti and Benito Juarez are just some of his better known public monuments.
