Miguelangel Jauregui Salinas (1962)

Born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1962. In 1979 he studied architecture until 1982 when he decided to devote himself full time into painting. Without any formal training he was immediately recognized with an award by the Circle of Watercolor Artists of Nuevo Leon. In 1984 he embarked on an expedition to Prague with Czech painter Helena Konstantinová who became his mentor and showed him the ancient oil painting techniques. His work "El Regalo" was bought by the Museo de Monterrey for it's permanent collection in 1985, and the very next year, Jauregui moved to Paris France. He also lived in Venice, Italy from 1989 until 1993. During his time in Europe he made portraits for aristocrats and royalty like the Countess Vendramina Marcello of Venice. Miguelangel Jauregui currently lives and works in his studio in Garza Garcia, Mexico.
