Luis Filcer (1927)

Born in Zhitomir, Ukraine. He moved to Mexico City when he was a child and started painting at the age of 17 at the famed Academia de San Carlos. He also studied in Paris, Rome and Amsterdam where his contact with the European style left a great impression that was to influence his work throughout his career.
Filcer's work is primordially expressionist, with figurative deformities which bring the viewer into an alternate dimension where rational thinking is set aside to make way for magical interpretations. In his more than 60 years experience, he has been invited to participate in more than 140 exhibitions throughout the world. This great exposure has given his art a place in several important collections and museums in America and Europe.
