Edmundo Aquino (1931)

Painter and printmaker born in Zimatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico. He studied at the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City. In 1967 he was granted a scholarship by the French government to study printmaking at the Ecole Nationale Superiore de Beaux-Arts in Paris. Tow years later he received another scholarship to study at the Slade School of Fine Arts in England. He returned to America in 1971 where he has worked incessantly. His art has been exhibited in one-man shows in Mexico, France, Spain, the US and other European countries. Among his most noted works are "Instantes de un Vuela" (1971), a mixed technique at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, California. Along his career he has been awarded several important recognitions like the First Prize at the Foreign Artist Exhibition of Paris in 1969 and the Prix Nationale at the VI International Festival at Cagnes-Sur-Mer Francia in 1974.
