Alberto Cavazos (1939)

Born in San Nicolas de los Garza, a suburb of Monterrey, Mexico in 1939. Alberto Cavazos is known as the Picasso of Mexico, compared to the master not only in style but for the amount of work he creates. His mediums include drawing, painting, etching, and sculpture. His paintings generally have intense color and bold strokes, and often depict fantasy themes. His first exhibition was held at the gallery of the Instituto de Bellas Artes in Monterrey in 1959. His work has also been shown in Mexico City, Guadalajara, San Luis, Austin, Madrid, Barcelona, New York City, San Jose Costa Rica, Chicago, Brasilia, Panama, Lima, Sao Paulo, Zaragoza, Bogota, New Delhi, Tokyo, and other cities around the globe.
